Khamoshiyan is a 2015 bollywood supernatural film, based on Satanism. The film is directed by Karan Darra and produced by Mahesh Bhattand Mukesh Bhatt in association with Vishesh Films. The film is an erotic love triangle revolving around a writer adrift in the icy slopes of Kashmir where he discovers a woman with a strange, silent past.[2]
The film stars Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi in principal roles. Initially, the film was scheduled for release on Jan 23, 2015, but pushed to a January 30, 2015 release.[3] The music for the movie has been composed by Jeet Ganguly and Ankit Tiwari. Its box office collections were reportedly Rs 1.92 crore on the opening day[4]

The plot deals with a novelist Kabir (Ali Fazal) whose failed relationships and career force him to move to Kashmir in search for an Inspirational story.
In Kashmir, Kabir meets a mysterious beautiful lady Meera (Sapna Pabbi) who is married to an Industrialist Jaidev (Gurmeet Choudhary). Meera runs a mysterious guest house, where Kabir arrives as a tourist. How Kabir uncovers the supernatural past behind Meera and how he liberates her soul from the clutches of her Satanistic demon husband forms the crux of the story.

Development[edit]
The main cast of Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi was finalized in mid-2014.[1] In May 2014, it was reported that Gurmeet Choudhary will be playing negative role in the film.[5]In June 2014, actress Pabbi signed a three film deal with Bhatts and committed to work on the film as her first movie as of the deal.[6] In an interview Fazal stated that, in the film he plays a romantic writer with grey shades.[7] Producer, Mahesh Bhatt said in an interview "With a recipe of great music, state-of-art digital effects and a love story that brings back the intrigue of Mahal, it will repackage and raise the bar for the horror genre in Bollywood".[2] Bhatt further added that the film has the potential of becoming a franchise. Ankit Tiwari was roped in to compose music for the film.[8]
Filming[edit]
Shooting of the film's first schedule began in 5 June 2014,[9] and ended on August 2014.[10] Shooting for the film's second schedule took off in Kashmir in September 2014 scheduled for 15 days.[11] Due to the high flood in Kashmir, producers had to shift the shoot to South Africa, as a replacement for Kashmir.[12] In October 21, 2014 filming took place in Cape Town in South Africa.[13] Pre-climax was filmed at the forests of Legacy Estates in Cape Town.[14]
Marketing[edit]
A video was created to announce the launch date of trailer of Khamoshiyan; it was uploaded on the video sharing platform, YouTube.[15] The video had background music only and was used to introduce the characters, unveil the logo and the punchline.[16] Khamoshiyan music launch was held in a venue that is below the ground level and this turned to be the first underground music launch event for any Hindi film.[16] The filmmakers announced launch of a novel and a game. The novel will have not only the story of Khamoshiyan but also two other films - 1920 (film)and 1920: Evil Returns. The writer of all the three films is Vikram Bhatt.[17][18] The game will have different characters and every character will unveil a dark secret and tell a different story as the player advances.[16]
Publicity team has planned a unique promotional event for the film with debutant Sapna Pabbi where in she would be chatting with men over Social Media sites. This movie is aimed by filmmakers to reach larger audience which helps their movie benefiting at the box office.

They have purchased the rights of the song Aayega Aane Wala from the film Mahal (1949 film).[19] The soundtrack of Khamoshiyan has been composed by Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Ganguly, Navad Zafar & Bobby Imraan. The lyrics for the soundtrack are penned by Rashmi Singh and Sayeed Quadri. The first single of the album titled "Khamoshiyan" composed by Jeet Ganguly and crooned by Arijit Singh was released on 10 December 2014. The second single of the album titled "Tu Har Lamha" composed by Bobby Imraan and sung by Arijit Singh was released on 19 December 2014.
